Situated in the Royal County of Berkshire, Reading is approximately halfway between London and Oxford, close to the M3, M25, M40 and on the M4 corridor.
With such motorway links in place it is easy to understand why Reading enjoys such a thriving industry base and has been chosen by many leading companies as the site for their headquarters.
Having previously been famous for beer, biscuits and bulbs, Reading has lost all but one of these trades, the one remaining being the Courage brewery by Green Park Business Park, close to the M4 Junction 11. However, with the main stay of employment now in the computer industry, it has gained such companies as Microsoft, Compaq, Hewlett Packard and Digital to name a few.
Employment aside, Reading has a vibrant town centre - whether you are looking to go shopping, eating, drinking, dancing or to the cinema, you will find all of these pastimes readily available at the Oracle Centre, Reading's main Leisure attraction.
The town offers some excellent academic opportunities too, with Reading University being one of the top 20 most research-intensive Universities in the UK. There is also Thames Valley University which spans three campus sites in Reading, Slough and Ealing and has over 45,000 student registrations.
